How VL mentor teams continue to build capacity in remote areas in Sudan

Friday, 18 May, 2018

In November 2017, the VL Mentor team reached a very remote area in north Darfur called Almalha treatment centre and unfortunately found that the trained medical doctor had left the centre and had taken the drugs back to the MoH. The team provided immediate training for the new medical doctor and while they were observing him in the clinic they saw a nomad child with VL symptoms and signs. After examination and testing the child was diagnosed with primary VL and started first line treatment with the drugs brought by the team. The child was cured and discharged in good condition.
